June 26th, 2025 – Effective June 23rd, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will enforce 25% ad valorem tariffs under Section 232 on newly added steel derivative products, as directed by Proclamation 10896 and Proclamation 10947.

Key Points:

  • Newly affected items include certain refrigerators, dryers, washers, dishwashers, freezers, stoves/ovens, food disposals, and welded wire racks (HTSUS Chapters 84, 85, 94)
  • These products are now listed in the Annex of Proclamation 10896 and are subject to additional Section 232 tariffs
  • These tariffs apply to goods entered or withdrawn for consumption on or after June 23, 2025

Tariff Classification & Rates:

  • HTSUS 9903.81.91: All countries (except UK) – 50% duty on steel content
  • HTSUS 9903.91.98: United Kingdom only – 25% duty on steel content
  • HTSUS 9903.81.92: All countries – 0% duty if the steel was melted and poured in the U.S., even if processed abroad

Additional Notes:

  • Applies to goods with “privileged foreign status” in Foreign Trade Zones before June 23rd, 2025
  • No drawback (duty refund) is allowed on these duties
