June 19th, 2025 – With the goal of reaching a broader trade deal, the U.S. and UK have found common ground, agreeing to ease tariffs on certain goods for both nations.

Announced on Monday, the agreement – the first of trade deals established since the April 2nd tariff announcement – includes reducing tariffs on aerospace imports from the UK down to zero, anticipated to take effect by the end of June.

UK auto imports will also see a tariff reduction, dropping the rate from 27.5% to 10% for the first 100,000 vehicles imported from Great Britain.

Reciprocal beef market access is also part of the agreement – UK farmers can export up to “13,000 metric tonnes” of beef to the U.S. with U.S. producers potentially receiving similar access [or benefits] in the UK market.

Despite making headway, this agreement does not include removing or lowering the 25% steel and aluminum tariffs on British exports to the U.S.

According to the Trump Administration, this agreement will create jobs in both the U.S. and UK, with the British Prime Minister stating it is “a very good day for both our countries.”

The UK is among the few major countries the U.S. does not have a trade deficit with, reaching a trade surplus of nearly $12 billion in 2024.

With $148 billion in total two-way trade, the UK ranked as the U.S.’s ninth-largest international trading partner in 2024.
