July 10th, 2025 – Crowley, a U.S.-flag operator, has launched its first-ever direct shipping route linking the U.S. Northeast with Central America, marking a strategic expansion of its ocean services and reinforcing its presence in the Atlantic trade lanes.
The new route connects the Port of Philadelphia’s Gloucester Marine Terminal with key ports in Guatemala and Honduras. By introducing this corridor, Crowley is opening streamlined pathways for Northeast-based businesses to access growing international markets, offering faster and more reliable service to and from Central America.
The Jacksonville-based logistics company is deploying its cutting-edge, LNG-powered Avance class vessels to provide five-day transits – one of the fastest in the region. This non-stop, efficient service means reduced inventory idle time, lower overall supply chain costs, and longer shelf life for time-sensitive goods such as fresh produce. Businesses shipping food, apparel, industrial products, and consumer goods can expect timely deliveries and improved market responsiveness.
The inaugural voyage was scheduled to depart July 3rd from Central America to Gloucester City, New Jersey, operated in collaboration with Gloucester Terminals LLC, a client of Holt Logistics Corp. The service is expected to play a meaningful role in strengthening the local economy by supporting job creation and enhancing Philadelphia’s maritime industry.
This new route also complements Crowley’s established container shipping services across the Northeast Atlantic, including regular connections to Puerto Rico, the Eastern Caribbean, and the Virgin Islands – further solidifying the company’s role as a major U.S.-flag operator in the region.
